What it costs

Ocean Diver is the BSAC entry-level diving course. Estimated cost for adults is £300-400.

At MKSAC we can train people to scuba dive over the age of 10 years. (For those aged 10 or 11, Discovery Diver is an intermediate step towards Ocean Diver.)

Kit for Ocean Diver trainees includes:

  • Basic kit, comprising mask (it would be better to get your own mask quite soon), pool fins (not suitable for open water dives with exposure suits), snorkel
  • Scuba kit (suitable for use in open-water) comprising regulator with alternate second stage, buoyancy compensator/wing, cylinder
  • Dive computer
  • Weight belt, weights.

Air from the club compressor is free to members.

Additional costs

Exposure suits

The club does not stock wetsuits, drysuits, or open water fins. These can be hired from dive sites for between £15 and £35 per day. Alternatively, they can be purchased new or used. Club members can give guidance on purchasing suits.

Site/boat fees

MKSAC dive trips usually take place from boats or at inland dive sites. Fees are between £15-£25 for inland sites, and around £60-£75 per day for boat diving.
